Blauer USA: American outerwear heritage

Blauer was founded in Boston in 1936 by Louis Blauer and started out supplying technical clothing to police and armed forces. Since 2001 an Italian licensing partnership has taken the label into fashion. At Urban City Styles the range covers women and men and leans towards cold-weather outerwear. T-shirts and trousers from the brand appear from time to time.

Not sure where to begin? Work through these steps:

1. Pick the weather. Winter jackets and padded styles in nylon, polyamide or polyester suit cold days. A white nylon-elastane hooded jacket and a black moto jacket are lighter spring/summer options.
2. Choose your colour. Black is the most common, followed by navy, brown, bordeaux and white.
3. Decide on the details. Nearly all jackets have a hood, and some come with a zip front or a roll neck.
4. Complete the look. Add men's trousers, women's trousers or a pair of jeans. The range also includes a pink linen mandarin shirt for men.
